Deep Wild 2023 came in the mail today! It is a gorgeous volume of poems, essays, and stories from the backcountry. (Visit Deep Wild’s website here to learn more.)
I’m thrilled to have a poem from last summer’s trip to the mountains included in this issue. You can read “Western Tanager” in a post on Deep Wild’s website here.
Another poem, “Only Silence” is in the spring issue of Crosswinds Poetry Journal. This was an incredibly rare “gift poem” that came all at once based on a deeply felt encounter with a deer and suffered very few edits. A screenshot of the poem from the journal is below.
Thanks for continuing to follow my writing. I doubt I will ever have this much publication news to share in such a short time again. After a hot streak of acceptances for this spring in Dec/Jan, I’m now riding out the tide on a slew of rejections. So it goes. Any chance I get to share work and be in spaces with other writers is an incredible privilege, so thanks for following along with me!
