Two new poems of mine are published today in One Art. “Illness” is a perspective on prayer, and “Like It Was” comes from the layers of being that go along with living in my grandparents’ old house. It’s also a tribute to all the animals I’ve loved. Most closely, to date: Cuddles, Cookie, Red, Racoo, Desson, Dice, Spanky, Tokey, Oliver, and Lewis.
In the spirit of “keeping my heart close to the hurt” (see the first poem), I voted today at our nearest early voting center. I waited in line a little over 2 hours. If you are registered to vote in the US and have not yet cast your ballot, please make a plan to do so, on election day or before (if that’s an option where you live).
